Stalker 2 is in development (again)

In case you do not know about the series, let us tell you that it is an FPS with elements of horror and survival, where the events take place in The Zone, inspired by the exclusion zone of Chernobyl after the nuclear disaster.

Stalker 2 was originally revealed back in 2010, but it didn't get very far before everything-the game and the studio-fell apart. Do we need a sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl though?

The release of S. T. Today something a little more interesting happened: GSC Game World, the creator of the original Stalker trilogy, quietly announced that Stalker 2 is now in development.

Now the studio has launched a website which is simply called Stalker 2, with an attached year of 2021.

There's also murmurs of the game using the Unreal Engine 4 based on a Tweet by Epic Games' Sergey Galyonkin, though this hasn't been confirmed.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was then cancelled, and GSC scattered to the radiation-poisoned winds.

Later, In 2012 GSC Game World stated that the game was "currently in development" without a release date.

GSC would reopen in 2015, and released real-time strategy title Cossacks 3 in 2016.
