Joe Burrow's decision is a win-win for everyone

Joe Burrow graduated from Ohio State last weekend, and the quarterback will now decide in the coming weeks if he's going to stay with the Buckeyes for the 2018 season or transfer and likely become a starter at a different program. He had competed with Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell for the starting job throughout spring practice, which concluded April 14.

"I came here to play, I didn't come here to sit on the bench for four years", Burrow said after completing 15 of 22 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. He was Barrett's backup in 2016, but got beat out by Haskins for that role heading into the 2017 season. When Barrett had to be removed from the MI game with a knee injury, Haskins went 6-of-7 through the air for 94 yards and led three scoring drives in the Buckeyes' 31-20 comeback win.

Burrow has not yet been granted his release from Ohio State, so no visits have been planned. Until now everything has been hypothetical, but Joe Burrow is officially an option.

Burrow redshirted as a true freshman and has appeared in just 10 games over the past 2 seasons, throwing for 287 yards with 2 touchdowns in that time. "I will decide where I will play next year in the coming weeks". He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Burrow announced his decision on Twitter. However, new coach Dan Mullen said UF was not pursuing a grad transfer "right now" when asked Monday night. "I want to play somewhere".

Burrow grew up in Athens in southeastern Ohio, where his father, Jimmy, is the longtime defensive coordinator for coach Frank Solich at Ohio University.

Speaking of OH, in-state options like OH and Cincinnati could also be in the mix.

It's also worth noting that Burrow transferring to Nebraska would mean a showdown with Ohio State on November 3, whether that's something Burrow desires or hopes to avoid.
