"Being a London boy, to go up to Manchester, I was never willing to travel".

"It's been a wonderful 24 hours for me and the family", Warnock said. They will now face Derby in the play-offs, in a deflated mood, their impressive unbeaten run ended alongside dreams of automatic promotion. The playoff final is at Wembley Stadium on May 26.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has said that funds will be made available for Warnock, but they are both now enjoying the celebrations after promotion was confirmed. There was another one after full time, when Cardiff's Malaysian owner, Vincent Tan, was carried on the shoulders of fans.

Etheridge, who was visibly emotional in the video posted Monday on Twitter by Ben Black, featured in 45 out of 46 league matches for Cardiff in the 2017-18 Championship season.

Warnock proved to be a ideal fit for Cardiff, which plays in the image of its gritty and no-nonsense manager.

Last season, the clubs met twice in the Championship.

Tan told Wales Online: "We want to follow the Burnley formula and I do think Neil can achieve that with Cardiff".

"So the lads [players] said 'what about bringing in Charlie, gaffer?' So we got Charlie across to Hull, we won that game and then he came on Saturday and we managed to get over the line with a draw". Currently, Swansea is in the relegation zone, tied for points with Southampton with each having two games left.
