No day-night Test during Australia tour, Team India tells CoA

No day-night Test during Australia tour, Team India tells CoA

Australia are scheduled to take on India in Adelaide from December 6th, which is where they traditionally play their "pink ball Tests".

India will begin their Australia tour with a three-match T20 series from 21 to 25 November, and then play four Tests in Adelaide (6 to 10 December), Perth (14 to 18 December), Melbourne (26 to 30 December) and Sydney (3 to 7 January). Given that a pink ball Test match against India is becoming increasingly unlikely, Australia might host a Day-Night Test against Windies in October. They don't want to jeopardise their chances, as they are not "accustomed to" playing pink-ball cricket.

The T20I will be followed by 4 test matches and one One Day International.

The first global match set to play out in front of the Canberra crowd will be Australia's women's cricket team, as they face trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in a T20I match.

"It's a summer which will contain plenty of high-quality cricket and some exciting new additions to the Australian cricket calendar", Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said. Hence, the Indian cricket team have made their intentions clear of playing only with the red ball in the longest format of the sport.

The Gabba has been overlooked as a venue to host world No.1 Test side India this summer.

"It is our preference that we play India in a day-night Test match in Adelaide, but we are still working through this detail and hope to have an answer on this in the coming weeks", Sutherland said. South Africa were initially reluctant to play their 2016 Test under lights at Adelaide, fearing the hosts would have an unfair advantage. However, despite India's denial, Cricket Australia (CA) is still hopeful that they will be able to convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Canberra's Manuka Oval will host its maiden Test when Australia rounds out its home summer of cricket in game two against Sri Lanka from February 1.

I hope so. Of the top eight or nine teams, it's only Bangladesh and India that haven't committed and I've always said it is part of the future of Test cricket.
