Snapchat finally releases iPhone X exclusive AR lenses

But the new, exclusive face filters for the iPhone X are using the device's TrueDepth camera system which means users will get an increased level of accuracy.

Yes, Snapchat Lenses are cute, but you would think differently once see what the app offers for iPhone X users.

These TrueDepth-powered masks were first demoed by Craig Federighi at the iPhone X announcement event in September 2017.

Snapchat is one of the first major apps to integrate TrueDepth facial data since iPhone X launched in November.

iPhone's AR lenses reflect the encompassing light even more. You can make use of different masks which you can use within the lenses. Bloomberg insiders recently revealed that the new iPhone 11 will come with a new air gesture feature and a curved OLED screen. Snapchat's photos and videos of the new lenses suggest that they will tightly stick to your face. The depth information lets Snapchat to more precisely pin virtual objects over a subject's face. Previously, Apple cleared that the data can't be used for advertising or marketing, and can't even be sold to data brokers.

There have been questions in the past about how much of the data from facial mapping app developers have access to, but Apple is stating that there won't be access to the Face ID information that can identify the user, just the advanced facial mapping that allows for new features like this.

Nevertheless, the third-party developers will have access to 50 facial expressions that could inform them how the user raises the eyebrows or moves the mouth.

In the developer agreement, Apple has clearly mentioned that the data fetched can not be used for advertising and marketing purposes, keeping the security issues in mind.

However, as the adoption of TrueDepth and Face ID grows, it would become hard for the iPhone maker to keep a check on the unfair use of data. Previously, there were speculations that the product would arrive this year. If you've ever used the iPhone X's Animoji, you'll know the wizardry we're talking about.
