Family, Daughter Reunite 24 Years After She Went Missing

A Chinese couple have found their daughter who went missing 24 years ago.

. She tearfully told reporters, "The whole world said that I don't have a mother, but I do have one!" The results proved that she was indeed his missing daughter, Qifeng. Wang even became a taxi driver, hoping he would one day pick her up as a passenger.

Earlier this year, Qifeng, now 27, who had grown up with the name Kang Ying, came across a social media appeal post and reached out to the couple who she thought might be her parents. Mr. Wang actually stepped up his search by becoming a taxi driver for a popular ride sharing company in China, Didi Chuxing.

Wang and his wife never left Chengdu, hoping Qifeng would return to them.

"My biggest wish right now is that someday my daughter will sit down in my vehicle, and shout 'Dad!'" Wang said a year ago.

Police claim Phoenix, Arizona, mum Sharron Dobbins shocked her 17-year-old son after several attempts to wake him up failed and arrested her on suspicion of child abuse after her son alerted authorities.

In 2017, the family had a breakthrough in their search when a police sketch artist read about Wang and chose to produce an image of what Qifeng would look like now. The picture was circulated online.

Qifeng disappeared back in 1994, when she was only three years old.

Qifeng had been adopted by a family who found her on the side of the road in Chengdu.

A subsequent DNA test confirmed what they'd already believed.

Yesterday (Apr. 03), Wang and his wife were reunited with their daughter in person.

But she says that she will be trying to to get back to Chengdu to be closer to her parents.

"From now on, Dad is here - you don't need to worry about anything - Dad will help you", Mr Wang said.

Kang Ying and her mother, Liu Dengyeng, hugged each other tightly and cried as they were reunited - and were quickly joined by the rest of the family.

"During the past 24 years, I can't remember how many hopes, disappointments and despairs I have experienced. Now we can finally meet again".
