Remains found in Nevada County may be missing Hollywood actress

Police have discovered human remains that they believe are that of the missing Hollywood actress Adea Shabani.

Her boyfriend Christopher Spotz, a suspect in her disappearance, killed himself after leading police on a high-speed chase through Los Angeles last Thursday. Shabani was last seen in Hollywood on February 23.

Bringolf did not give any details on the missing person case, but Fox40 in Sacramento, citing a "trusted source close to the investigation", reported that remains found at the site are possibly those of Adea Shabani.

Discrepancies in Spotz's alibi raised warning bells but he disappeared before police could track him down for further questioning.

Hayes says detectives believe that Spotz was involved in Shabani's death.

Los Angeles police found what's believed to be her body on Monday some 430 miles away in a shallow grave by a creek in the Spenceville Wildlife Area, California. "We can not say that conclusively at this point in time because the condition of the remains prohibited positive identification", he continued, adding that they believed Shabani's boyfriend, Christopher Spotz, was "somehow involved in her death". Their argument ended with Spotz dropping her off when they were driving through Santa Clarita.

What looked to be a shallow grave was soon found in the area, detectives say.

He stated that the actual cause of death would only be determined after the results of Wednesday's autopsy.

Shabani came from Macedonia and had been in Los Angeles less than two years, according to her friends.

Shabani was apparently last spotted in the Tacoma, LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera told the Times. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook that the department's homicide detectives and coroner's division made the discovery. Surveillance video obtained by the LAPD showed Shabani and Spotz in an elevator in her apartment.

Detectives are now investigating the scene. At some point, information led authorities to the lake at the Woods Wildlife Area in Nicholas, California, but were not successful in finding anything.

When police couldn't find Spotz or his truck, Hayes said, they alerted other law enforcement agencies that they were looking for the vehicle. The suspect was later identified by Riverside County Sheriff's deputies as 33-year-old Christopher Spotz of North Hollywood. The chase led from Hesperia to the Corona area, where Spotz fatally shot himself, Hayes said.
