Unemployment down slightly again in ME in January

Maryland's low unemployment should lead to wage growth and improved.

Almost all Wiregrass counties experienced an increase of 0.7 or 0.8 percent in unemployment rates in January, according to figures the Alabama Department of Labor released Monday.

The state's unemployment rate in December was 3.2 percent and in January it dropped to 3.1 percent, near the record low of 3 percent set in 1999.

In Albania's population of 2.87 million, unemployment rate among men was 13.7 percent in the end of 2017, while among women it was 12.9 percent, INSTAT said. The Illinois jobless rate last stood at 4.8 percent in May 2007.

The only category with a year-over-year decline was "other services" at 1,700 jobs. Nondurable goods manufacturing lost an estimated 100 jobs statewide, the information sector was down 400 jobs and the education sector was down 600.

Self-employed people, like proprietors or independent contractors, are not accounted for in unemployment figures, however.

Florida's housing market also remains strong as median home prices rose $20,000 across the state in the previous year.

"The state's slightly higher unemployment rate suggests that the state has a little more slack available in its labor force, which should be a positive for economic development", said Mark Vitner, senior economist with Wells Fargo Securities. Nonfarm job growth occurred in the private sector, which saw 7,300 more jobs, while government jobs dropped by 200. Those numbers are based on the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly household survey. The largest job gains were in educational and health services, up 95,700 jobs (a 3.7 percent increase), construction, up 75,500 jobs (a 9.8 percent increase), and leisure & hospitality, up 58,400 jobs (a 3.0 percent increase).
