Men's Basketball To Play Texas A&M On Friday In The NCAA Tournament

The No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies (20-12) finished No. 7 in the SEC but were defeated by Alabama, 71-70, in the opening round of the SEC tournament. No matter how this pans out, Texas A&M has reached the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 10 Providence Friars finished No. 3 in the Big East but lost to Villanova, 76-66, in the Conference Tournament.

If the Aggies win their first-round matchup, they will take on the victor of 2-seed North Carolina vs. 15-seed Lipscomb.

The Friars earned the number 10 seed in the South Region.

This is Rhode Island's second consecutive trip to the tournament under A-10 Coach of the Year Dan Hurley and only the second time in the history of the program that URI has gone to consecutive NCAA tournaments.

Going to be interesting to see where these two teams land come NCAA Tourney time.

This season marks the 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament that the Aggies have qualified for, making them one of only eight teams to have accomplished that feat.

The defending-champion Tar Heels are as hot as anyone, despite falling to Virginia in the ACC Tournament championship. That is the home court of the Aggies.

Thanks to a three-game win streak to close the regular season, the Aggies were not on the bubble heading into the SEC Tournament.
