Putin Says 'Couldn't Care Less' If Russians Meddled In US Election

Putin Says 'Couldn't Care Less' If Russians Meddled In US Election

In an interview broadcast late Friday, Putin was asked by NBC's Megyn Kelly whether he condoned the electoral interference by 13 Russians named in an indictment by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

"Why have you decided the Russian authorities, myself included, gave anybody permission to do this?" Last month, Mueller's probe led to the indictment of 13 Russian nationals, with copious details about their alleged plot to influence the election primarily through fake social media accounts. "They don't even deny it", Putin said.

Kelly said, "I would not say that Putin likes Trump". Putin told NBC. "There are 146 million Russians".

"So what?. I don't care", Putin said in the interview. "I couldn't care less". "Because they don't represent - they do not represent the government".

"We are ready to discuss any matter, be it missile-related issues, cyberspace or counterterrorism efforts", Putin said in an interview with NBC published by the Kremlin on Saturday. "And we'll take a look at it".

The show is billed under the name "Confronting Putin".

US government intelligence agencies are in unanimous agreement that Russian Federation interfered in America's election.

He claimed it was not Russia's "goal to interfere" and appeared incredulous at the charges, asking, "Could anyone really believe that Russian Federation, thousands of miles away.influenced the outcome of the election?"

Instead, Putin said, the USA should sign a cybersecurity pact with Russian Federation if it wanted Moscow to look into the matter in earnest.

"With all due respect for you personally, with all due respect for Congress, you must have people with legal degrees, 100% you do", Putin said smiling.

The indictment alleges that starting in 2014, the Kremlin-backed Russian Internet Research Agency tried to disrupt the USA political process and sow discord through stealing US identities and falsely claiming to be USA activists. And so, when I was asking him, why do you think Donald Trump never says anything unkind about you ever? This is ethnic nationalism, and it is similar to how Trump sees America - where white Christians are the "real Americans", and people of color, and immigrants are consistently treated as second-class, inferior, or the "other".

There are fears Russian hackers are planning to attack Britain's infrastructure and Armed Forces Minister Mark Lancaster says the United Kingdom would respond in kind.
