Superstar Serena Williams asks organizers to bring Tennis tournament to Kenya

Williams won the title at the court in 1999 and 2001, before boycotting the event due to racial harassment.

"Stay focused Serena, and WIN your matches". But it is no bad way to launch her month in North America. She was to play Heather Watson of Britain.

Serena Williams makes her long-awaited comeback tonight at the prestigious Paribas Open in Indian Wells and BT Sport is the only place to tune in to see how she fares.

Williams has been away since winning the 2017 Australian Open early in her pregnancy.

"I've never been the right kind of woman", she says in a voice-over for the advert.

Yet here she was, six months later, eager to face the challenge of the tennis tour again, and with a few new incentives.

She is playing at Indian Wells under a protected ranking of 22nd. She smiled as she walked to the net, and her family gave her a standing ovation. "I think women work really hard and deserve that respect. As long as I'm moving forward, even if it's at a turtle's pace, I'm OK with that". "She is a very special and what she has done for women's tennis is huge".

Williams dropped the first two points, but quickly had a break point attempt in the first game.

Williams could not hide her joy in the lead-up to her return, sharing her emotions across social media platforms. At the time, she was eight weeks pregnant. Williams's sister, Yetunde Price was the victim of a drive-by shooting on September 14, 2003, in Compton, as she drove in her SUV with her boyfriend. It's been fun [getting back to work], I've been having so much fun being a mom, and having time off is good too... "I just want to do the best that I can". And then when I finally got it I just felt like I probably deserved it, won a lot, played a lot and won the World Tour Finals at the end of the year in Houston. "I was so excited for this match".

Williams' only competitive appearances since the birth came in December at an exhibition in Abu Dhabi, a Fed Cup doubles match with sister Venus last month and an exhibition in NY on Monday.

The former world No. 1 is unseeded and as a result did not receive a first-round bye. One was her sister Venus, a potential third-round opponent.
