Leicester ace Mahrez admits Man City transfer frustration

Asked about what would happen when the transfer window opened again in the summer, Mahrez declined to commit his future to the Foxes.

"Moving forward, I want to try to give my best for the team".

The 27-year-old's contract with Leicester runs until 2020 and despite his obvious desire to part ways with the Premier League club the Foxes have already proved that they are unwilling to budge on their valuation of the Algerian worldwide.

Mahrez said: "I'm not saying I'm going to leave, I'm not saying I'm going to go".

Despite his longstanding intentions to make a move away from the club, Mahrez has been in outstanding form on the field for Leicester having scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 31 games across all competitions this season.

Leicester City confirmed on Wednesday that star forward Riyad Mahrez is not quitting football after a freakish post appeared on the player's Facebook page announcing he was retiring. And the Algeria global says the saga has not caused any tension within the club.

"I was away from here because I needed some time to think, but we've moved on now", he said in an interview with Sky Sports. "Like I said, we moved on and now it's the past".

"It was hard, I've always been in contact with the club".

"To be honest the club handled it very good as well".

"It was hard, but I spoke with the players, I spoke with the manager, I spoke with everyone and everyone was OK, everyone was good", he said.

"I want to thank everybody for the kindness and support they have shown me in this incredible city".

Mahrez said: "I wasn't bothered".

'Like I said, it was hard, I spoke with the players, I spoke with manager, spoke with everyone, everyone was okay, everyone was good'.

A post appeared on Mahrez's official Facebook page claiming the winger will retire from playing due to injury.

"It won't affect me so I don't know why they tried to do that".
