Rams deal LB Ogletree to the Giants for two draft picks

The Los Angeles Rams are trading linebacker Alec Ogletree and a seventh-round pick to the New York Giants for a 2018 fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Speaking of Johnson, he seemed pretty surprised when he heard that Ogletree had been shipped off to NY.

Ogletree has been durable and consistent but his $10 million cap hit is likely the driving force behind the Rams decision to send him off to Big Blue.

The trade can not be officially announced until March 14, when the league year begins.

The Rams have been one of the most active teams in the trade department this offseason.

Oglretree was in the same draft class as Justin Pugh, but Ogletree was the 30th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Ogletree, 26, entering his sixth National Football League season out of Georgia, improves a thin Giants linebacking corps that needs to add speed, athleticism and versatility in Bettcher's new 3-4, blitz-heavy scheme.

Ogletree, 26, has been highly productive over the past five seasons, earning 501 tackles, six interceptions, 12 forced fumbles and two touchdowns in 67 starts.

By the way, the trade of Ogletree means the Rams officially have only have one player left on their roster from the eight picks they received in the Robert Griffin trade.
