Neymar leaves hospital after 'successful' surgery on injured foot

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is expected to be out for up to three months after undergoing foot surgery in Brazil.

Neymar is supposedly hell-bent on making a full recovery from his injury to star for Brazil in Russian Federation, with surgery representing the best possible outcome for his foot in the long run.

The operation was declared a complete success. A statement read, as quoted by the club's official website: "The operation consisted of the laying of a screw associated with a transplant fixed at the level of the lesion of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot".

"The recovery time will depend on the player's recovery". Neymar will have surgery on a fractured toe in his right foot and could be out for up to three months, an estimate that would take the Brazil striker right up to the World Cup.

"When you think how exhausting the European season is, he could even arrive fresher than the others, both physically and emotionally", said Cristiano Nunes, the physiotherapist for Brazilian club Internacional.

'We discussed everything with the doctors of PSG and the Brazilian team and with his family, ' Henrique said.

"An assessment will be conducted in six weeks in order to determine the possible date of his return to training".

"Neymar is sad, but understands he has no alternative now. He will devote himself to being well as soon as possible", said Lasmar.

Neymar is ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid and now faces a battle to regains sharpness ahead of the World Cup.
