Raiders release Aldon Smith amid domestic violence allegation

San Francisco police, who identified Smith as a suspect Sunday in a statement, told ESPN on Monday that they still want to speak to him about the incident. "And I'm scared for his life with his addiction", Shawna McKnight told TMZ.com.

Aldon Smith seemed to be getting his life in order last month when he got engaged and was focused on returning to the NFL.

Police were searching for Smith on Sunday after he "fled the scene" where officers had responded to a domestic-violence complaint Saturday, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The 28-year-old reportedly fled the scene, and police want to bring him in for questioning.

Smith's fiancee told TMZ she was the victim of the alleged domestic violence incident Saturday night in San Francisco.

The Raiders signed him in 2015 and he played nine games for them until the National Football League suspended him for substance abuse violations. "He complied. They went and got him". He was later signed by Oakland - and is now still under contract with Raiders organization - but hasn't played since 2015.
