Kirk Cousins Expected To Sign With One Of These Four Teams

Kirk Cousins Expected To Sign With One Of These Four Teams

The 29-year-old's time in Washington likely is running short, however, after the Redskins agreed to a deal with fellow quarterback Alex Smith on January 30.

Kirk Cousins was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. With an excellent defense and talented skill position players already in place, Cousins' addition to the Vikings could be the move that finally gets them over the top. "He'll be in warm weather, he'll be playing on one of the best turfs in the NFL".

Here's a quick breakdown of where each of the four rumored teams stands in terms of 2018 cap space (per Spotrac), quarterbacks now under contract for the 2018 season, and draft positioning.

Cousins posted a picture with the Cardinals wide receiver to Instagram on Friday, with a caption that will make Cardinals fans very excited. But they aren't the only two teams eyeing him up ahead of National Football League free agency. Restructuring the contracts of players like Chandler Jones or Patrick Peterson would help as well, but given the future commitments the Cardinals already have on their books, that could be a risky game. Because of his statistical success, there has been much debate the past two seasons on whether or not Kirk Cousins is the guy to make a big offer too. According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, the New York Jets are going all-out to acquire Cousins, even offering him a huge contract, but the long-time Washington Redskins quarterback could sign with another squad.

Sports Illustrated reports that the Jets have the most cap space of the four teams - but the Vikings reached the NFC Championship Game last season.

Blaine Gabbert, Drew Stanton, and Matt Barkley are the lone quarterbacks on the roster of the Cardinals, who finished with an 8-8 mark last season.

It's hard to tell what the franchise sees in Alex Smith that they didn't see enough of in Cousins to warrant that blockbuster of a deal to go with Smith instead.
