India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi says his home state could be the driving force of the country's economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Lucknow today to inaugurate the two-day Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit, which is being attended by around 5,000 people, including industry leaders from India and overseas, chief ministers, union ministers, policy makers and academics.

The Prime Minister said a defence industrial corridor would be established in Uttar Pradesh, and would help in development of the Bundelkhand region.

He also announced worldwide airports in Jewar and Kushinagar.

"Uttar Pradesh has values and virtues, but it also needs value addition in all spheres. I am sure the UP Investors' Summit will open new doors for investment in UP", said Modi.

"Tourism is a multiplier for growth".

Looks like Uttar Pradesh will be next hub of development in #India. "Besides, this kind of healthy race will strengthen the spirit of competitive and cooperative federalism", Modi said. "This gives the state unique proposition to reap maximum demographic dividend", Singh said.

In the last 15 years, there were never such serious discussions and now development has staged a strong comeback, the Union minister said.

"We are happy that keeping this important fact in mind the state government has brought "one district-one product policy", this could be a game changer, he stressed".

Adityanath announced that the state has signed 1,045 pacts worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore on the first day of the summit. "We will also open an IT-enabled services centre in Varanasi soon", Chandrasekaran said.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani also stressed that Uttar Pradesh is "not rising, but racing ahead in development".

Adani group chairperson Gautam Adani said his group would develop a logistics park in the state.

Adani Group today said it will invest Rs 35,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the next five years in various sectors.

Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla addressed the summit. Lying along the fertile plains of Ganges with highest irrigated land in the country, the state of Uttar Pradesh has very hard working populace.
