Gus Kenworthy Kisses his Boyfriend in Televised Moment at Winter Olympics

"But I think that's awesome, that's something that I wanted at the last Olympics was to share a kiss with my boyfriend at the bottom but I was too scared to do it for myself", Kenworthy told the media, as quoted by Reuters.

Kenworthy then said: "I think that the only way to really change perceptions, break down homophobia, break down barriers is through representation".

In a new photo shared on social media, he showed extensive bruising on his hip. "To be able to do that, see this mark of affection on television for the whole world, it is incredible". The 28-year-old has fans which also includes celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Britney Spears.

Meanwhile, Kenworthy is among the few openly gay athletes at the ongoing Pyeongchang Games in South Korea.

While local sponsors may support the underdogs and athletes who haven't medaled, the biggest endorsement deals typically just go to the top one or two competitors in each sport - headliners like Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn.

"A kiss from his boyfriend from the bottom of the slope and a wave of rainbow flags at the bottom!"

Kenworthy recently told Us Weekly thathe and Wilkas got together after the freestyle skier messaged him on Instagram."We're great".

"I think I wanted to show support for him, because I am so proud of him and I'm so proud of our entire LGBT community, regardless of whether it's in sports or elsewhere", Kenworthy says. "And I think landing a run in the final and getting on the podium obviously would have been icing on the cake, but even though it didn't happen for me I still had a wonderful Olympic experience". Being here now, out and proud and living my life authentically, I'm walking away more fulfilled without a medal than I did at the last Games with one. "And just be part of such an wonderful and diverse country".
