Nokia Snakes it's Way Up to Number 6 Mobile Phone Brand Globally

The test has now ended and the company has started rolling out Android 8.1 officially to all Nokia 8 owners. Recently, the company trademarked Nokia 8 Sirocco Edition moniker, so there are chances of this device to be launched as well.

The update also corrects the much talked about hamburger emoji and also includes the February Google Security Patch. The company is believed to come with the global variant of the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7. As per screenshots posted by some users who have received the update, the size of the file will be roughly 1.56GB.

To be noted, the Nokia 8 becomes the first non-Google smartphone to run the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update.

HMD Global has already announced that all the Nokia smartphones will receive Android updates for a minimum of two years. The emoji fix was one of the changes introduced in Android 8.1 release. Counterpoint reckons HMD sold 4.4 million Nokias in the final three months of 2017, with total sales to date topping around 10 million.
