DeAndre Jordan And Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Closer To Closing Deal

DeAndre Jordan And Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Closer To Closing Deal

The Los Angeles Clippers traded Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons last week in a stunning blockbuster, and various rumors suggest L.A. also could deal away DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams before Thursday's National Basketball Association trade deadline.

Acquiring Jordan will not be easy because of the Clippers' preference for a trade that can create financial flexibility, but it is worth a try for the Blazers because he is a significant upgrade over Jusuf Nurkić.

Who knows? Maybe Montell's 6-foot-8 frame might be of some assistance in halting the current situation the Cavs are in. The Clippers have been intent on getting back at least one first-round pick for Jordan, but maybe the Cavs have convinced another team to come to the table.

To get around having to part with Brooklyn's pick, which was acquired from the Boston Celtics in the Kyrie Irving trade, the Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly enlisted a third team.

Although the Clippers seemed poised to sell after dealing power forward Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons in January, Jordan will remain in the fold to help push L.A. into the playoffs. Clippers sources later told Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times that the team wasn't actively shopping Jordan. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers are now exploring the possibility of roping in a third team to help facilitate a trade. As it pertains to the Cavs' interest in the Clippers' DeAndre Jordan, a person with knowledge of that situation said Cleveland continues to offer only its own first-round pick and this kind of unwanted money in those stalled negotiations. He is averaging 11.5 points, 15 rebounds and a block per game.
