Virat Kohli smashes 160 no, India post 303

The Indian cricket team led by captain Virat Kohli has won the third ODI match against South Africa in 6 matches ODI series. They have not beaten the South Africans in a bilateral ODI series since 2010. "We have to make sure we're not letting our guard down because we worked really hard from that last Test to win four games in a row on a tough tour of South Africa". In doing so, South Africa restricted a surging India to 303-6 in 50 overs given the latter were 140-2 around the 24th over. Kohli remained unbeaten at 160.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, India rode on Smriti's 98-ball 84, laced with eight boundaries and a six, and skipper Mithali Raj's 70-ball patient 45, to post 213/7.

Cape Town - Indian captain Virat Kohli called on his players to show no mercy to their South African counterparts for the remainder of the one-day global series. In the first ODI Kohli scored 112 runs off 119 balls.

As expected, there are three changes, which includes two debutants. The previous-best was 98 (out of 130) by Sourav Ganguly against Sri Lanka in 1999.

The Indian Captain has played a total of 205 ODI matches and has an impressive strike rate of 91.77.

An injury-hit South African side briefly showed more fight in the third ODI at Newlands, Cape Town, but in front of Kohli's magnificence, it was never going to be enough. Only Ricky Ponting (22 in 220 innings) and AB de Villiers (13 in 98 innings) have more. He is the 4th visiting player to score more than one hundred in a series against the hosts after Kevin Pietersen in 2005, David Warner and Joe Root in 2016.
