'Inglourious Basterds' Star Diane Kruger Weighs in on Quentin Tarantino Controversy

When Robin Quivers, Howard Stern's longtime on-air producer and partner, brought up the fact that Polanski's victim was drugged up on pills and alcohol before the assault took place, Tarantino got defensive and the rant takes a very bad turn.

Tarantino was also getting severely criticized on Twitter on Tuesday as audio surfaced of his remarks concerning Polanski, 84, who has been a fugitive since fleeing to France in 1978 while awaiting sentencing for unlawful sex with a minor in 1975.

As we previously reported, in her candid New York Times interview, the 47-year-old actress claimed that the celebrated director pressured her into doing a driving stunt, despite having vocalized her qualms with the sequence. News. "It was statutory rape. That's not quite the same thing", Tarantino said.

"And it spins her like a top", Tarantino said. To me, when you use the word "rape, ' you're talking about violent, throwing them down". Throwing the word rape around is like throwing the word racist around. "It doesn't apply to everything people use it for", he told Howard Stern in 2003.

His role in the Dowd piece: Tarantino says he and Thurman had talked extensively about her plans to speak with Dowd, and that the plan was for him to also talk to Dowd and verify Thurman's claims.

"Something else Uma was misunderstood about [in the Times' article], and I don't think she realized it until last night while we were talking, was she feels that a whole cover-up happened", Tarantino told Deadline.

"Look, she was down with it".

Additionally, Tarantino's next movie is about the murder of Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate.

In a New York Times report published over the weekend, Uma Thurman revealed that she received permanent injuries after crashing a auto she didn't feel comfortable driving while filming Kill Bill.

Tarantino supported Thurman's assertions that he had asked her to drive at a particular speed so that her hair would be blowing. The vehicle crashed, and Uma was badly injured. "They lied, destroyed evidence, and continue to lie about the permanent harm they caused and then chose to suppress. I hope they look after other clients more respectfully if they in fact want to do the job for which they take money with any decency". But when Thurman drove the auto in the opposite direction for the scene, there was an S-curve that, he claims, led her to crash. "Quentin and I had an enormous fight, and I accused him of trying to kill me". Thurman posted the footage to Instagram hours before Tarantino's interview was published. "Beyond one of the biggest regrets of my career, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life".

Tarantino framed the day of the on-set auto crash differently than Thurman did and denied that he had gotten angry with her, though he might have gotten annoyed by her trepidation. According to Thurman, she was forced to do a unsafe driving stunt that permanently injured her knees and neck.

"Quentin Tarantino was deeply regretful and remains remorseful about this sorry event and gave me the footage years later so I could expose it and let it see the light of day", she wrote on Instagram. "It wasn't secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things".
