"Padman" releases on February 9. I didn't have enough money, but now I can.

"Even Hollywood does not have a single film on sanitary pads or menstrual hygiene". Akshay Kumar shared the joyous news with a tweet that reads: "Happy to share, our film #PadMan becomes the first Bollywood film to be released in Russian Federation on the same day and date".

PadMan was initially slated to release on January 25 but the makers chose to defer the film's release after Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached them with a request to let Padmaavat release on the date mentioned. "We have tried to do that", he added.

Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte, Ayushmann Khurrana, Shabana Azmi, Dia Mirza and Sanya Malhotra are among those who shared "pose with a pad" photos as part of R Balki's film promotions. The story is inspired from the life of Muruganantham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating the low-priced sanitary napkins machine. Lakshmi Prasad is also a Padma Shri awardee.

Even though everyone is appreciating the fact that there is finally a movie which speaks about something as natural as menstruation, a few are also criticising Akshay to have touched upon this "stigmatic" issue.

The video also gives a glimpse of Akshay Kumar's character Lakshmikanth at the United Nations who draws a comparison between pads used to protect the legs of cricketers and sanitary pads used by women, strongly making a point that there is a need for menstrual hygiene. "Have you seen men discuss menstrual hygiene?"

"Second, if we can make people talk about periods, that would make a lot of difference and third, it's high time that people understand that menstrual hygiene is of utmost importance".

On Anand's picture, Sonam Kapoor, who also stars in PadMan commented: "My favs" while Sonam's father actor Anil Kapoor, who also completed the "PadMan challenge" wrote: "Mind blowing, love to your team Anand".
