Netanyahu visits Russian Federation, sets red lines for Iran in Lebanon

The meeting is expected to be held at the JMTC (Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre).

Speaking during his weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said he intends to discuss with the Russian leader "the various developments in the region".

Netanyahu flew to Russian Federation for the day on Monday for his seventh face-to-face meeting with Putin in two years. Tel Aviv firmly opposes such actions and will act on its own if the global community won't handle the issue, he warned Putin. The Syrian National Dialogue Congress, now taking place in Sochi, was also among the topics discussed, the official said, without providing any details.

Netanyahu and Putin have met several times since Russian Federation started its military campaign alongside President Bashar Assad's forces to coordinate their military moves.

Netanyahu's comments on Lebanon come as Israel is launching a diplomatic campaign warning that it will not tolerate precision missiles manufactured in Lebanon.

The Israeli attacks are ostensibly to prevent Syria from obtaining advanced weapons from Iran and other sources and then passing them on to Hezbollah.

One of the most famous acts of resistance by Jews to the Nazis during the Holocaust, the Sobibor Uprising got off the ground after the arrival to the Sobibor death camp in northeastern Poland of several Red Army veterans with combat experience.

With the Russian army just across the border in Syria, Netanyahu said that these meetings with Putin - and the type of cooperation that has developed between the defense establishments of both countries - is critical "so we don't clash". "I think that the main lesson of the rise of the Nazis and, afterwards, their defeat, is that one needs to take a strong and timely stand against murderous ideologies".

Russian Federation is a military ally of Bashar Assad, Syria's president, and of the Iranian regime, with which it conducts major arms deals. While Israel refrains from statements about airstrikes on Iranian weapons convoys inside Syria, it often seems apparent that Israeli pilots have carried them out.
