Delhi government orders probe into Bawana warehouse fire

In a tweet, another minister of Delhi, Satyender Jain, tweeted: "Learnt about a serious fire incident in a private factory at Bawana". Following which half-a-dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

The official said the blaze, which started from a firecracker factory, has been brought under control.

On the other hand, North Delhi Mayor Preety Aggarwal said, "I received information about the incident on phone at around 9 pm & we immediately rushed to the spot".

"Seventeen people died and two were injured". Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said a person named Manoj Jain has been apprehended. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives. All casualties are from Sector 5 fire.

The incident took place at F-90 in northwest Delhi's Bawana area. "Several casualties reported. Monitoring the situation.Ordered enquiry". Fire erupted on second floor of the godown.

Officials said the building, which didn't have the mandatory no-objection certificate on fire safety, was sealed after the blaze. An investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the blaze, they said. The police had said that an FIR has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible material.
