Michigan State's Miles Bridges makes midseason list for Wooden Award

Young already ranks in the top 10 among all-time OU freshmen in numerous categories for season totals, sitting at seventh in points (438), second in assists (153), third in made 3-pointers (58) and fourth in made foul shots (126).

The freshman is considered by many to be the frontrunner for the award.

Young tied the NCAA single-game assist record against Northwestern State back in December.

He also made Big 12 history after becoming the first freshman to earn five Player of the Week awards.

The list is dominated by seniors and guards, with 17 upperclassmen and 15 backcourt players being listed.

University of Iowa junior Megan Gustafson has been named to the 2018 John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list.

He boasts a season-high of 37 points against Sacramento State, has scored 30 or more points three times, and 20 or more in an impressive 11 games. Former Sooner players Blake Griffin and Buddy Hield won the award in 2009 and 2016, respectively. There also are several teammates among the top 25: Duke's Grayson Allen and Bagley; Arizona's Ayton and Allonzo Trier; Villanova's Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson; and North Carolina's Luke Maye and Joel Berry II. Voters are permitted to take into consideration the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament when casting the ballot.

Landale is arguably the best centre in college basketball right now, and is joined by Seton Hall's Angel Delgado as one of only two centres named on the list.
