France condemns new settlement plans in West Bank

Israel has given final building approval for 352 homes in settlements in the occupied West Bank, an anti-settlement movement said on Thursday - construction that Palestinians see as jeopardizing their prospects for statehood. Some 50 families now live in the outpost. "Look no further (as) to why there is no peace..."

"An Israeli father of six was killed last night in cold blood".

The military said forces were conducting searches in a neighboring village for the suspect behind the shooting death this week of an Israeli man when Palestinians hurled a "massive" amount of rocks at them.

"We decided, together as a family, to bury him in the place he had dedicated himself to", Yael Shevach said.

Hundreds of Jewish settlers attacked a number of Palestinian villages in the vicinity of the West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday, in retaliation for the killing of a settler. At least one terrorist had opened fire on his auto from a moving vehicle near the Jewish community of Havat Gilad.

Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist group, praised the attack. "We bless the heroic Nablus operation which comes as a result of the Zionist occupation's violations and crimes at the expense of our people in the West Bank and Jerusalem".

The Palestinian Authority, which has said peace talks are off the table until President Donald Trump revokes his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, did not immediately respond to Shevach's death. Shevah is the first Israeli killed since then.

The PA refers to the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, which governs autonomous zones within the West Bank but has no authority in the 60 per cent of the territory known as Area C, where settlements are located.

In the latest tensions between them, the Palestinian foreign ministry accused US Ambassador David Friedman of a "prejudiced and selective attitude" towards the conflict.

The Palestinians want these areas - along with the Gaza Strip - for the establishment of a future Palestinian state. If the terrorist is sentenced to 20 years or more, meaning he has probably killed Israelis, his lifetime monthly allowance is five times that.

The PA's own records show payments to terrorists and their families of more than $347 million in 2017, the Defense Ministry said.
