Why Is Amazon Playing Nice With Apple But Not With YouTube?

But Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest's latest products.

To access channels such as Amazon Prime or Netflix, you add them to the menu of Apple TV, Roku and FireTV, if they're not already preloaded, and then register your subscription credentials. Customers can also enjoy Thursday Night Football live on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV.

The Prime Video app for the Apple TV supports numerous Apple TV features, this included Siri and the TV app, this allows you to search for videos on Prime from the main TV interface.

The Prime Video app will be available on Apple TV 4K and previous generations of Apple TV, giving Prime Video members with Apple TV devices access to Amazon's content line-up.

It is now unclear why Amazon chose to reduce its audio quality in its Apple TV app to PCM stereo. We'll see if Amazon and Google can take a similar approach.

On Tuesday, Google said it would cut off Amazon's Fire TV streaming devices from YouTube, starting on January 1. For now, it's a bit hard to find in traditional Apple TV search. The controller gives you a headphone jack for private listening and hands-free queries with Google Assistant. With this, you'll be able to connect to your broadband through your TV and stream movies as well as view your picture and videos stored on your iCloud. This, too, can be synced across all users' Apple devices. Google blamed a "lack of reciprocity" on Amazon's part for the decision. If they manage to reach an agreement chances are you will still get to watch YouTube on Amazon devices after December 31st. Where movies are not available for streaming via a Prime subscription, the app often says that the content can instead be purchased or rented.

Amazon said in a statement, "Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".

This new development in the existing row between the two companies follows YouTube disabling its programming from Amazon's Echo Show device, which Amazon retaliated by stopping to sell the Nest E Thermostat, Nest's Camera IQ, and the Nest Secure alarm system.

Beyond that, the app will be immediately familiar if you've used it on any other streaming or mobile device recently.
