'House Of Cards' Will Get One More Season - Starring Robin Wright

The streaming service and content creator is positioned to release at least 80 original movies in 2018, Sarandos said Monday at UBS's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY. It will be an eight-episode season.

But now Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has assured fans the show will continue next year (18), with Robin Wright in a starring role.

"It will star Robin Wright, and we're really excited about bringing some closure to the show for fans", Sarandos reportedly said.

"We have made an arrangement to produce six seasons of "House of Cards".

Netflix have announced that the final season of House of Cards will be just eight episodes and not feature the show's main protagonist, Kevin Spacey.

Sarandos added he was thrilled to have been able to reach the deal for the 370 people who directly work on the popular series and "the 2,000 people in Baltimore" who have jobs working for "HOC".

It is not known when the final season will air nor what the current status of any spin-off might be.

Taping of the political drama was halted in October amid sexual misconduct allegations against star Kevin Spacey. There have been numerous discussions about how the show would finish or even if it would finish, after the departure of the Oscar-winning lead, Kevin Spacey, from the show.

The actor was also executive producer of the flagship Netflix series, which is adapted from a BBC drama of the same name and has earned seven Emmy awards on more than 50 nominations.

The sixth season of the USA political drama, which starred the 58-year-old as a fictional president, was originally expected to air in mid-2018.

Among accusations that have been directed against Spacey in recent weeks were those of several House of Cards workers, who accused him of creating a "toxic" working environment and behaving like a "sexual predator". Celebrities were infuriated by his out-of-place response, as was Netflix, who fired him and suspended production for House Of Cards as soon as they heard of his allegedly sick acts.

He said he didn't recall it, but allegations by other men followed.
