Veterans Day tradition continues in Charleston

The city of Cleveland honored those in the armed forces with the 4th annual Veterans Day parade. Mayor Jake Windham spoke during the ceremony.

A veterans breakfast reception, hosted by Cub Scouts, will be held before the parade at First Baptist Church at 7:30 a.m. The route is created to accommodate a ceremony at Savannah Veterans Park immediately following the end of the parade at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Several public places were closed on Friday in observance of Veterans Day, but on Saturday the U.S. Post Office will not be delivering mail.

As part of creating the veterans park, the city moved the Vietnam Memorial on Columbia Street and the Spanish-American War Memorial in Canal Square Park to the site.

FARMINGTON: A wreath-laying ceremony at the World War I monument will be held at 11 a.m. on North Main Street, with a ceremony with the Color Guard, Legion and Legion chaplain. Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph R. Menard, a combat engineer, will be the keynote speaker, discussing the contributions of Army engineers during war and peace. A brief memorial ceremony will take place immediately following the parade, in Folsom City Lions Park at the Veterans Memorial. A parade will begin at 10:45 a.m.at the corner of Lincoln Way and Cleveland Street and will proceed down Lincoln Way.
