IPhone X Suffering From Cold Weather Screen Freezing, Apple Software Fix Inbound

Hopefully this iPhone X software update should help fix it for those users who need to use their phone in the cold. Apple says the issue happens when temperatures drop suddenly, and the firm is working on a fix.

iPhone X screen not responsive in the cold from iphone " We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. At this point, the screen does not work reliably in terms of registering touch-based inputs.

Some iPhone X owners have been reporting this problem on the iPhone subreddit over the last day or so. Luckily, there seems to be a workaround, where locking and immediately unlocking the handset seems to restore functionality of the screen.

To fix the issue, you'll have to install the patch, known as iOS 11.1.1., by going to the software update section under the general tab in settings. "It's very noticeable. Is anyone else having this problem?" asked darus214. On Thursday, Apple had released iOS 11.1.1, an update that addresses an autocorrect bug that caused "i" to correct "A [?]" on some devices. "I try swiping on websites and it doesn't register my finger", wrote the original poster. "After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again", Apple said in a statement to ZDNet sister site CNET.

Others said they had been experiencing the same problem.

That said, the company is still working on a software update that it hopes will tackle the issue altogether.

For now, the phone should return to normal within seconds. Apple had previously fixed the issue in the iOS 11.2 beta, but it looks like the bug became widespread enough that Apple pushed it out before that larger update.
