Pakistan Will Allow Convicted Spy Kulbhushan Jadhav to Meet Wife

The wife of Kulbhushan Jadhav, the Indian sentenced to death for espionage in Pakistan, may be able to meet him soon.

Indian Government sources pointed out that even now consular access has not been granted despite several requests and that Islamabad is offering such a meeting between Jadhav and his wife only on "humanitarian grounds". "A Note Verbale to this effect has been sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today", stated a press statement from the Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.

According to reputed sources, speculations were flying high about the recent successful meeting between India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Sawraj and the newly-appointed Pakistani diplomatist to national capital Sohail Mahmood, the daily said.

He confessed before a magistrate and the court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organise espionage, terrorist and sabotage activities aimed at destabilising and waging war against Pakistan.

India had approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in May seeking a provisional stay to the execution of Jadhav which was granted. Pakistan has repeatedly rejected India's request for a consular access. The Indian government refuted Pakistan's allegations as it said he was kidnapped from Iran where he had gone for some work related to his business.

The General Secretary PIPFPD said that ideally, both Pakistan and India should release all the fishermen, women from their custody. India had argued that Jadhav was not accorded the due process of law and was sentenced to death in an arbitrary manner.

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested Jadhav from its restive Balochistan province on 3 March past year after he reportedly entered from Iran.

To this end, India's written response was submitted to registrar Philippe Couvreur of the ICJ.
