Samsung denied appeal against Apple in "Slide to Unlock" patent fight

Samsung denied appeal against Apple in

Appeal Samsung wanted to appeal the decision of the Supreme court, which for the illegal use quick links instead of phone numbers and addresses, the functions of the slide to instantly unlock the device and auto-correction, which are registered patents of "Apple" company. Last month a U.S. district court judge ordered a retrial to ascertain the amount Samsung owes Apple for contravening three iPhone 3Gs patent.

Apple initially sued Samsung in April 2011, claiming infringement of patents, trademarks, user interface and style, and Samsung immediately countersued, claiming infringement of mobile-communications patents.

Anyway, as per the court ruling, Samsung was found to have infringed upon both these patents and is now liable to pay more than $120 million in damages to Apple. Apple Inc is expected to report a 1.3 percent increase in iPhone sales in the holiday quarter, its slowest ever and a far cry from the double-digit growth investors have come to expect. The patents covered some popular features on early iPhone models, such as ' Slide to unlock, ' autocorrect, and quick links. Samsung didn't give up, looking to the Supreme Court for justice.

The Supreme Court has rejected Samsung's appeal of court rulings that it impermissibly copied features of Apple's iPhone.

All the original phones involved in the battle have already been phased out of production. Since then, Samsung has filed multiple appeals against the judgment and briefly succeeded in getting the decision overturned before it was later reinstated. This implies that Apple's $120 million award is back in business, much to Samsung's disadvantage.

Samsung is obviously not happy about the court's decision.

In April this year, Huawei had defeated Samsung in a patent battle in Chian where the Galaxy 8 maker was ordered to pay 80 million Yuan (USD 12 million) to Huawei for infringing its cellular smartphone technologies. Although Apple is now reducing its reliance on Samsung components for its iPhones.
