Brock Osweiler to start for Broncos

Brock Osweiler will replace Trevor Siemian as the Broncos' starting quarterback when the team plays at Philadelphia on Sunday.

Lynch returned to practice for the first time since suffering the injury last Wednesday.

Siemian has two TD passes and eight interceptions over the Broncos' 1-4 slump, including three ugly interceptions in a 29-19 loss at Kansas City on Monday night that wasted a strong defensive effort.

The Broncos play the Eagles (7-1) on Sunday.

After a poor offensive performance on in Kansas City on Monday night, Broncos coach Vance Joseph has decided to make a change at the quarterback position.

This time Osweiler is trying to do what Siemian will be left to do down the road - rebuild himself and his career.

The results, Joseph said, simply haven't been good enough.

"When you watch Trevor, even last night, he made three awful interceptions, " Joseph said. The Browns released him in the summer and he quickly rejoined the Broncos, who needed a backup after Paxton Lynch sprained his throwing shoulder in the preseason. But with the Broncos deciding to bench Siemian, it looks like the Eagles' defense will have to settle with Brock Osweiler instead. Osweiler was released when Kizer was named the starter on September 2 and signed with the Broncos later that day.

The Broncos came back to win the game and Manning remained the starter through their Super Bowl win.

Siemian struggled mightily in recent weeks as the Broncos have lost three consecutive games and he failed to post a passer rating above 72 since the team's Week 5 bye. Osweiler threw for 1,967 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions during the 2015 season, helping him land a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans the next offseason.

"If a switch is made, it will be considered what's best for the football team, " Joseph said.

"In your heart, you know he can play better because those three balls he threw, you just can't throw".
