Microsoft is Reportedly Working on a Dual-Screen Pocket Notebook-Like Device

Additionally, the foldable tablet could come with telephony capabilities. Windows Central looked into some of Microsoft's internal projects and found that Microsoft is working on an intriguing new project that could, in theory, replace your smartphone.

The device apparently runs Windows 10 with Windows Core OS built in, in addition to CShell. And Microsoft's back-end business-intelligence services could bring real-time analytics right to users' foldable devices - just like in those futuristic Microsoft envisioning videos.

There is no any information whether the display panel is itself flexible or there will be two different displays attached with each other. So we could expect kind of the same dual touchscreen displays attached with each other in the upcoming Microsoft's tablet.

The report adds that Microsoft isn't looking to compete with the iPhone or Android, but wants to open up a brand new segment instead. You can take them away with you anywhere with compact and slim design and much more.

As mentioned above, the device will be keeping the pen and digital ink at the front and centre.

OneNote, Microsoft's digital note-taking app, would be the obvious centerpiece for such a device. There would be virtual pages available that will offer the realistic reading experience of your notes or other notes that you receive. Microsoft appears to be working on a similar device that will fold over like a book and have an emphasis on digital ink.

As the leaked photos of the said patent show that the so-called Surface Phone would be a foldable device, and the recent rumors claim that it will be the case, there is no denying that they are all in sync with Nadella's claim that Microsoft's next mobile device will be unique, indeed. No more rumored Surface Phone.

Years ago, a report detailed a concept device Microsoft was developing called "Courier". Eight years later, Microsoft could soon be making the Courier a reality.

We can't say that we are surprised by Microsoft's aggressive rollout of the Fall Creators Update because this one is not as large as the original Creators Update and it only packs a few new significant features.
