Snapchat's new Context Cards give users less reason to search

Content partners for Snapchat's Context Cards include Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop, TripAdvisor, Foursquare, and Michelin.

The information about locations, such as opening times, directions and contact numbers for restaurants, will be added to pictures as a "more" option when tagged with a location. Finding what you're looking for might now be as easy as swiping up with Context Cards, which "display information about the Snap you're viewing", the Snap team wrote in a Tuesday blog post. Context Cards also provide a way to take simple actions like calling for a ride with Uber or Lyft or reserving a table through OpenTable, Resy or Bookatable.

You will be able to book a table through the app partnered with Bookatable and hail a ride through the app partnered with Uber.

Snapchat has announced an update to its app that introduces Context Cards.

The feature will first roll out to Snapchat users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

This was particularly evident in recent weeks as onlookers watched hurricanes and the shooting in Las Vegas unfold in near real-time via Snapchat.
