Rams kick Cowboys; Patriots lose at home — Sunday's National Football League games

The Rams defense will need to find a way to slow down Ezekiel Elliott and the rest of the Cowboys attack who broke out last weekend after being stifled against the Denver Broncos the weekend before.

The Rams have not fared well against the spread going just 1-2. Everyone else should be healthy enough in what has become one of the most prolific offenses in the league. Adding another 35 this week to their NFL-best average of 35 points per game. A huge improvement over last season when the they finished last in total offense.

The Rams' offensive renaissance extends beyond mere statistics, however. There was the what-if about the new rookie head coach, the what-if about Todd Gurley returning to form or not, and then the what-if as to how Jared Goff would handle the weapons around him.

Dallas won the coin toss and elected to receive and Dak Prescott led the offense on a 7-play, 64-yard drive over 3:30, but the drive stalled, forcing a Dan Bailey 34-yard field goal with 11:30 left in the first quarter, putting the home team up 3-0. He has seven TD passes and one interception this season. Elliott rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown in the game, erasing a career-low eight yards against the Broncos.

Goff got a big boost with the offseason addition of Sammy Watkins in a trade. Davis was 30 of 42 for 327 yards, three touchdowns and two picks, one that was returned for a touchdown by Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter that gave Dallas the lead and the win with just six minutes to go in the game.

The Rams (2-1) are coming off winning arguably the most exciting game this season, a 41-39 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Zuerlein's final tally gave Los Angeles a five-point advantage with 1:55 left. Now they have turned their attention to their game against the resurgent Los Angeles Rams on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, FOX, DirecTV).

The Cowboys entered 2017 with Super Bowl aspirations, and their 2-1 start has done little to change their trajectory.

Goff has back-to-back games with multiple passing TDs and no INTs for the first time in his career. And like Goff over Prescott, Gurley has the edge so far on Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott, the National Football League rushing leader as a rookie last season. Those two form a young, ultra-talented nucleus that has toppled two teams this season (the Giants and Cardinals), while dropping one to the Broncos. LA ran one play in victory formation and the game was over.

This isn't very good news for the Dallas defense considering the secondary has been struggling. For the Cowboys, two of their three games have hit the under. They can't vanish from games like they did in the second half. Donald hasn't produced his typical amount of pressure after a prolonged holdout, but he showed signs of his field-tilting ability a week ago with a key fourth-quarter sack that all but sealed the game. "We're getting into a rhythm and we're planning on getting better every week". In all, the Rams pounded the Cowboys for 168 yards and a 5.4-yards per rush average.

BENGALS 31, BROWNS 7: Andy Dalton threw three of his four touchdown passes in the first half and Cincinnati's offense found the flawless opponent to work out some early season struggles. The team also has plenty of motivation with a challenging schedule ahead.

Don't get me wrong, he's made more than his fair share of big plays for the offense.
