Suspected militants stormed a paramilitary base in Indian-Occupied Kashmir early Tuesday, police said, sparking a lengthy gun battle that left one soldier and two attackers dead.

"One assistant sub-inspector of BSF was killed during the encounter while four other security personnel received injuries", he added.

The militants attacked 182 battalion camp of the BSF near the Srinagar global airport early on Tuesday. Cordon around the building has been placed by Troops of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 53 Rajput Rifles, BSF and Special Operations Group (SOG) zonal, where the terrorists have holed up.

Besides the civilian airport, the technical airport used by Armed Forces and VIPs is also in the vicinity. Air traffic has now been resumed, an official of the airport told UNI at 0945 hrs.

The attackers breached four layers of security in the highly-protected area housing the Srinagar global airport and a posh neighbourhood where numerous state's Who's Who live.

He said that: "JeM is a threat because the cadres believe in such kind of activities, like attacking the camps".

Three unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces near Srinagar airport today. They said that all three terrorists were killed while one BSF ASI was martyred.
