Apple Watch Series 3 is plagued by battery issues and LTE problems

Apple Watch Series 3 is plagued by battery issues and LTE problems

While Apple has done extensive hardware and software testing before rolling out its new products, reviewers have found a serious problem with the way the Apple Watch Series 3 handles Wi-Fi connectivity, The Verge reports. The problems arise when the watch joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity.

Apple says it's "investigating a fix for a future software release". With a cellular or Wi-Fi connection, it can make/take calls, activate Siri, send texts and connect to the internet without pairing with an iPhone, as previous variants were required to.

But several other prominent publications, including the Wall Street Journal and The Verge, recommended against purchasing the new model because the LTE cellular data connectivity did not work as expected. "Poor Dick, he upgraded to the cellular version of the Apple Watch Series 3".

Apple is up 34.15% this year, including Wednesday's drop.

Given the price tag of the LTE connected Apple Watch, as a buyer, I wouldn't be too happy that my new device isn't working as it should on launch day.

Many reviewers such as the New York Times praised the new features and gave generally positive assessments.

Problems with Apple watch connectivity cropped up on three different pre-production models, across two states and on two different carriers, Stern said. The addition of cellular LTE connectivity is the biggest change to the smartwatch. The new Watch appeared to try to connect to unknown WiFi networks instead of connecting to cellular, when I was out and about without my phone.

Analysts say iPhone 8 demand has been muted by Apple's premium iPhone X, which will arrive in stores on November 3 after a week of preorders starting October 27. "People I called via the watch said I sounded great, and I could hear them loud and clear".

Apple declined to comment further when we contacted the company about the issue. "This is the first generation watch with LTE", he told Reuters.
