India Seeks Deportation of Rohingya for Security Reasons

This came hours after sources in the government told Zee Media about possible links between Rohingya Muslims and Pakistan-based terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Al Qaeda.

In its affidavit to the Supreme Court, the government said that some of the Rohingyas with militant background were found to be very active in Jammu, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mewat.

A Rohingya insurgent group in Myanmar which claimed responsibility for recent attacks on police posts, the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, says it has no links to outside jihadi organizations. "They ran away from their country to save themselves from Myanmarese government".

Rohingya in India voiced worries that they were being unfairly tainted by the allegations and sought more understanding for their plight.

The hearing will continue next month.

Criticizing the minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju, he also slammed BJP led government for handling Rohingya Muslims "with blinkered vision and communal mindset".
