ESPN's Jemele Hill: Tweet calling Trump white supremacist expressed 'personal beliefs'

Trump tweeted 7:20 a.m. Friday morning, September 15, that the network should "Apologize for untruth!" after bashing it for its politics and "bad programming".

Jemele Hill, a prominent ESPN host, raised a few eyebrows this week with some fierce criticism of Donald Trump, and the issue reached the White House press briefing room yesterday, with this exchange between a reporter and Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Hill's tweets were Tucker's lead story, saying at the top of that night's show: "You probably thought ESPN stood for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network".

On Tuesday, ESPN publicly reprimanded Hill and apologized for her comments in a statement posted on Twitter. "My respect for the company and my colleagues remain unconditional". Sanders called them "outrageous" and suggested she be fired.

"This is yet another example of the Trump White House's blatant disregard for the Constitution and its authoritarian efforts to quiet dissenters", Nate Lerner, the group's Executive Director, said.

President Donald Trump on Friday slammed ESPN in the wake of remarks made by one of the channel's hosts that were critical of the president.

Hill's supporters inside and outside ESPN have rallied around her. "We accept her apology", the statement read.

Rob King, senior vice president for news and information at "SportsCenter", said having Ms. Hill and Mr. Smith "appearing on the show last night and doing the show the way they did is the outcome we always desired". And is the president aware of that comment? And.

Sehorn didn't call for Hill to be fired, but he wants ESPN to be consistent in its calls to rein in political commentary.

The report said that ESPN attempted to replace her on the 6 p.m. broadcast Wednesday with a different host until Smith "refused" to go the air without his long-time co-host.

Hill issued her own statement late Wednesday.

Trump's anti-ESPN tweet was enveloped in a slew of tweets this morning in the wake of a blast on a London Underground train that police are calling a terrorist incident.
