Met Eireann issues status yellow warning for THESE counties

The Met Office has a severe weather warning for wind in place across Wales and the West Country tomorrow morning.

A Met Office rain warning said: "30 to 40 mm of rain falling within six to nine hours seems likely to lead to flooding of some sections of road and perhaps also properties".

There has been some speculation that this weather is being driven by the severe weather in the Caribbean and USA, but the Met Office says there is no such connection.

But strong winds are still expected and the Highways England warning applies to the whole of the UK.

"While showers could be heavy at times the main issue will be the wind and there will be the chance of an overnight air frost over high ground in the north".

A WEATHER warning for eight Irish counties has been extended - as Storm Aileen is set to batter the country with gusts of up to 110km/h.

Forecasters say homes and businesses in these areas could also be affected.

Very strong winds across the coastal counties of the southwest, south and possibly parts of the east coast are expected.

People are being warned to keep away from sea cliffs, piers and coastal areas.

Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden added: "We are expecting a period of autumnal weather this week which will bring some unsettled and windy conditions for many".

"Winds will be the main feature of the weather, blowing strong southwesterly along the shores".
