Colorado Springs has top innovation college and top civil engineering program

The University of Kansas moved up three spots into a tie for 53rd among public universities in the 2018 edition of U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" rankings released Tuesday. The top 20 colleges on the list, which are all private universities, were led by Princeton and Harvard, with the University of Chicago and Yale tied for third, and Columbia, MIT and Stanford tied for fifth. Among top public universities, UC is now ranked No. 63.

UC Santa Barbara was ranked eighth, while UC Irvine and UC San Diego tied for ninth along with the University of Florida, and UC Davis came in at 12.

The University of Central Oklahoma is the state's highest ranked public university on the list. Over the past 10 years, UB has risen 24 spots in the rankings.

Kentucky Wesleyan College is a United Methodist-related four-year institution in Owensboro with a strong reputation for a rigorous academic environment and vibrant campus life experience. The university's graduation rate is a full 10 percentage points above U.S. News' predicted rate - a differential that ranks 11th in the nation.

Thomas More College's rankings dropped again to 80 among regional universities in the South.

For the 24th consecutive year, Oklahoma Baptist University is the highest-ranking Oklahoma school on the Best Regional Colleges list.

The magazine also rated the undergraduate business programs of national universities based on surveys of business school deans and senior faculty.

The publication provides an annual ranking that compares more than 1,800 US schools in a variety of categories, including academics, cost and other factors.

The College of Engineering is ranked 34th among public universities with doctoral programs, up from 41st previous year. The popular rankings give Tulane high marks in numerous categories, noting it as a national research university known for the innovation of its curriculum, its focus on student success, its welcoming of veterans and its dedication to public service. The ranking is based on data related to academic quality, including freshman retention rates, peer assessment, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rates, and alumni giving. UNG offers a broad range of degree programs and admission pathways with more than 100 programs of study and opportunities ranging from certificates and associate degrees to a variety of graduate programs.
