Coutinho missed Liverpool's start to the season with a back problem but managed to appear for Brazil during the global break.

"I'm not sure it's quite that easy, but if it is - if we bring him (Coutinho) in and then everything is great again - then that's cool", said Klopp, defending the reasoning for initially prolonging his absence.

The Senegalese forward misses next Saturday's home Premier League clash against Burnley then back-to-back visits to Leicester in the Carabao Cup and league - but he will be available for the Sevilla game.

"Klavan has not set the world alight as a Liverpool player and, when you're going to the Etihad, you want your back four to be confident and connected and know where each other is".

Philippe Coutinho had a shot accuracy of 55% for Liverpool in the Premier League last season. "You cannot play these passes better, you have only to make a little more of it. [Coutinho's] a fantastic player, that's really good, hopefully we can use him as quick as possible, but that's how it is".
