Amit Shah prays at Lingaraj temple in Odisha capital

Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah arrived in Odisha on a three-day visit as part of his 110-day nationwide tour to strengthen the party in the states.

When Paul Lyngdoh and MP Conrad Sangma, leaders from Meghalaya, which is one of the four states in the NE to go to elections, raised the question regarding the matter, senior leader and NDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma intervened and said local customs will be respected.

Reiterating his "Mission 120" - winning 120 out of the 147 Assembly seats in Odisha - for the 2019 elections, the BJP President said, "This may look impossible for some people who have grown old".

NEDA is a conglomerate of eight political parties formed in 2016 by the BJP along with regional outfits like Sikkim Democratic Front, Asom Gana Parishad, Bodoland People's Front, Naga People's Front, Asom Gana Shakti, National People's Party, and United Democratic Party.

The BJP Starwalt also hit out at chief minister Naveen Patnaik for celebrating an award given by a news magazine to him.

He said that the Conclave tomorrow will also discuss the Vision of the Prime Minister and Amit Shah for North East.

"The decision is yet to be taken", he said adding the State will get a young leader.

Shah advised the party leaders to highlight the pro-poor programmes of the Centre and how the State has benefited during the last three years of its governance. "As a result of this, people from different cultures and identities, every party came together on the platform of NEDA to take forward the growth engine of the country's development", he said.

Maintaining that dynastic politics dominated most parties including the Congress, the BJP president asked the gathering as to who will be the president of the oldest party of India after Sonia Gandhi and said the answer was obvious.
