Game gifting heading to Xbox Store "very soon", Wishlists on to-do list

Game gifting heading to Xbox Store

"Samsung's QLED 4K TV is our favourite way to play Xbox One X, and we're thrilled to join forces with Samsung in the U.S.to deliver immersive 4K gaming experiences to our fans". Xbox CVP Mike Ybarra said as much during a Q&A session following a panel at PAX West this weekend when asked about the feature by a member of crowd. Still, he said that Microsoft would let the developers decide whether to implement a support for a PC control scheme.

Microsoft already pits controller players versus keyboard and mouse players in Gears of War 4 via cross-platform play, but keyboard and mouse players are now restricted to PC. A lot of people tweet me and say "you can't do this because of fairness", and we understand that.

"When we bring keyboard and mouse, we'll coach developers to say, look, you've got to think about your multiplayer pools". Since the Xbox One is a traditionally gamepad-controlled console, its games are specifically developed for corresponding control methods; simply using a keyboard and mouse all of a sudden wouldn't work - the developers would need to retool the game's core control mechanisms entirely to include peripheral support.

It'll likely take some time before mouse and keyboard support is fully ready for Xbox, but for now, it's definitely on the way.

Ybarra ends the question by saying that support for the devices will be coming soon.

We don't' have any more details on the whole thing or how customizable the screenshots will be when the feature reaches the Xbox One, but what we do know for sure is that users are excited about it all! "So you'll see our first games supporting keyboard and mouse soon", Ybarra added. I can't announce when that is, but soon. "And based on developer interest, they'll choose to do keyboard and mouse, or not!"

In lighter news, Microsoft discontinued the production of the original Xbox One.
