Did Lalu try to inflate rally turnout with doctored image?

"While PM Narendra Modi took out time from his busy schedule to make an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Bihar, Lalu Prasad remained busy supervising the arrangements for the RJD rally", Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said. Sharad Yadav's presence on stage, despite his party warning him to stay away, may invitestern action against him.

On Friday, KC Tyagi in a letter had stated that the RJD is organising the rally against the JD (U) to cover up allegations of corruption faced by Lalu and his family members.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend the rally as the Congress leader is flying to Norway on the invitation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said breaking the Grand Alliance of the JD-U, RJD and Congress in Bihar was a betrayal of people of Bihar and their mandate.

Even as Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi decides to give Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's "BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao" rally a miss, the political kettle is heating well in the state of Bihar ahead of the proposed mega rally at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Sunday. Sharad Yadav echoed the same thoughts as Lalu and said without naming Nitish Kumar that his shadow betrayed him. "I will publicly prove it that the JD-U is our party", he said.

Earlier in the day, Yadav was warmly received by Lalu at the rally in Patna.

The rally was attended by most Opposition leaders including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, SP boss Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azaab and thousands of supporters. He added that the robbery of people's mandate will never let Nitish have a sound sleep and that Kumar doesn't have the courage to face the public, Indian Express reported. He announced the formation of a country-wide "mahagathbandhan" (grand alliance) to defeat NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Prasad, his wife, sons Tejaswi and Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha MP, were seated on the front row of the VVIP dais greeting leaders from other parties on their arrival.
