Mosaic Stadium makes list of potential 2026 World Cup venues

So as part of a bid that they will submit to Federation Internationale de Football Association early next year, organizers have sent requests for information (RFIs) to 34 USA locations - and 44 areas across the three countries overall - to gauge interest in hosting games. In Montreal, that would be Olympic Stadium and Saputo Stadium while in Toronto, games could be held in Rogers Centre or at BMO Field.

Canada, U.S.A., and Mexico are working together to secure the tournament and have submitted a long list of 44 potential host cities. Morocco is also bidding to host the tournament.

The United Bid Committee of the United States, Mexico and Canada began its outreach for cities to declare interest to serve as a host city by sending Requests for Information to 44 cities throughout the continent.

The United Bid Committee will review the submissions from each city and will issue a shortlist of cities by September. All are required to have at least 40,000 seats for group stage matches and a capacity of 80,000 to be considered for the opening match and final. Officials have said North America's transportation and lodging infrastructure is uniquely prepared to host an expanded tournament when compared with other parts of the world. Aside from the logistical challenges, a big list of stadiums does not increase revenue but does raise costs.
