A look at some of Mitchell Trubisky's impressive throws in preseason debut

The Bears scored their first possession of the second half - Trubisky almost threw a touchdown to Rueben Randle, who was tackled just shy of the goal line - and after his first two drives, he was 9/9 for 74 yards with a quarterback rating of 138 (his QB rating actually went down after completing his 10th of 10 passes, a nine-yard gain).

After Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch combined for zero touchdown passes and one field goal drive on Thursday evening, the Denver Broncos sent in undrafted rookie quarterback Kyle Sloter to finish up the game.

So much for fresh starts. Maybe he'll see more action against starters moving forward in the preseason.

Glennon's had both good and bad days since the Bears reported to training camp in late July, but this one was about as terrible as possible and came on a much grander stage.

The Bears' starters resembled a team that, after expressing confidence throughout camp over how improved they were, had forgotten how bad they had been and tried to substitute brashness for good football.

Defensive lineman Billy Winn went down hard in the final minute of the first quarter and had to be carted off the field with a knee injury. It just happened more quickly than anticipated. I do not want to overreact to one preseason game against backup defensive players, but I can not help but be excited.

Of note again was rookie running back Tarik Cohen. Long has been practicing with the team, but as he recovers from shoulder surgery in the offseason, the Bears are being very cautious with him.

So, yeah, things aren't exactly off to the best start for Glennon in his new home, something that many won't be too surprised about given his history with turning the ball over.

The Bears won't, and shouldn't yet, but his early progress is encouraging.

The second pick in the 2017 draft, Trubisky rolled left for a 2-yard TD pass on third down to Victor Cruz 13 seconds before halftime, going 5-for-5 for 50 yards on the 75-yard march as the Bears cut Denver's lead to 10-7. He also completed his first ten passes.

Mitchell Trubisky's impressive debut, combined with Mike Glennon's 0.0 passer rating, won't alter Chicago's pecking order at quarterback.

The Bears' next game is set for August 19 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Glennon and Chicago's offense then promptly went three-and-out on their second series.
