Taylor Swift's Groping Case: Everything You Need To Know

Taylor Swift's Groping Case: Everything You Need To Know

Swift, one of the most successful contemporary music artists, earned $170 million between June 2015 and June 2016, following a world tour and her best-selling "1989" album, Forbes Magazine said. Taylor, dressed in a white top and black jacket, sat at a table with her mother, Andrea Swift, and her attorney.

Jurors will try to decide whether a radio host groped the pop superstar during a photo op before a concert in Denver in 2013 - and whether she and her team got him fired.

The case, which is slated for a nine-day trial at a federal courthouse in downtown Denver, stems from a June 2, 2013 photo opp at the Pepsi Center where Swift says DJ David Mueller reached his hand up her skirt and "grabbed [her] bare ass".

"It was not an accident, it was completely intentional, and I have never been so sure of anything in my life", Swift said of the incident during a deposition.

The 55-year-old radio personality was first to file a lawsuit against Swift, whom he claims have falsely accused him of groping, which consequently pressured the station to fire him from his $150,000-per-year job.

Taylor Swift says she's standing up for all women who are subjected to groping and sexual advances by men.

Gabriel McFarland, Mueller's attorney, said the photo was "awkward" but did not show any inappropriate, under-skirt touching as Swift has alleged.

Meanwhile Mueller has denied doing anything inappropriate during the brief stage encounter and he saying that Swift's allegations are all "nonsense".

In court filings, Swift said her representatives informed KYGO management about the incident but she did not demand that Mueller be fired.

Opening statements are expected on Tuesday afternoon in a case that could last two weeks.

In addition to suing the pop singer, Mr Mueller is taking legal action against the radio promotions director of his former station.

Swift is seeking a verdict that awards her $1, while holding Mueller responsible and "serving as an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts", her lawsuit says.

Mueller often appeared to be reading documents while Swift watched the proceedings closely, occasionally conferring with her counsel. They also are being asked to determine not just whose story to believe but what to make of a photograph that both sides say proves their case.

Jury selection began Monday.

Swift, one of America's top-selling recording stars, is expected to take the witness stand during the trial.

In addition to Swift, Mueller named her mother and a member of her team as defendants in the lawsuit.
